Where in Michigan is E. coli outbreak?
Outbreak cases have been reported from 18 jurisdictions including the counties of Allegan, Branch, Clinton, Genesee, Gratiot, Jackson, Kent, Macomb, Midland, Monroe, Muskegon, Oakland, Ogemaw, Ottawa, Saginaw, Washtenaw, and Wayne and the City of Detroit. The age range of those affected are 6 to 94 years old.
Thirty-seven related cases of E. coli have been reported in four states — Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania — over the span of just two weeks, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday.
Wendy's E. coli outbreak 2022 has now sickened 97 people in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Kentucky - ABC7 Chicago.
E. coli are bacteria found in the intestines of people and animals and in the environment; they can also be found in food and untreated water. Most E. coli are harmless and are part of a healthy intestinal tract.
Thousands of homes in Surrey and Kent could have tap water contaminated with E-coli after tests discovered the potentially deadly bacteria. People living in postcodes in Oxted, Redhill, Limpsfield, Godstone and Sevenoaks are being advised to boil their water before drinking it.

The presence of E. coli in the water along Lake Michigan's shoreline is a strong indication that the water was recently contaminated by sewage or animal fecal waste.
On October 20, 2022, Mariscos Bahia, Inc., Pico Rivera, CA initiated a voluntary recall. Recalled products included fresh, raw salmon along with all other types of fresh fish processed in the same area as the salmon which included fresh, raw halibut, Chilean seabass, tuna, and swordfish.
According to the CDC, the number of cases stemming from the outbreak is "likely higher" and expected to rise—possibly even appearing in more states. The CDC is saying it is OK for consumers to continue to eat at Wendy's, as well as to consume romaine lettuce.
The CDC posted an outbreak warning of E. coli 0157:H7 on January 6th, 2022 linked to boxed salad greens sold in Washington, Oregon, Ohio and Alaska.
Symptoms include diarrhoea, stomach cramps and occasionally fever. About half of people with the infection will have bloody diarrhoea. People usually notice symptoms 3 to 4 days after they have been infected. But symptoms can start any time between 1 and 14 days afterwards.
Does washing lettuce remove E. coli?
In a word, no. According to James Rogers, Ph. D., director of Food Safety and Research at Consumer Reports, if E. coli (or any other type of bacteria that can cause food poisoning) is present in your produce, washing it won't remove all of those organisms.
160°F/70°C -- Temperature needed to kill E. coli and Salmonella. While Salmonella is killed instantly at temperatures above 160F keeping the temperature for longer periods of time at lower temperatures will also be effective.

As of Monday, 652 people have been reported sickened by Salmonella Oranienburg, including nine people in Michigan, the CDC reported. At least 129 have been hospitalized. ProSource said the onions were last imported on Aug.
coli (STEC), including E. coli O157:H7, can be particularly dangerous. The primary sources of STEC outbreaks are raw or undercooked ground meat products, raw milk and cheeses, and contaminated vegetables and sprouts.
In October 2021, before the most recent CDC investigation began, the Georgia Department of Agriculture identified Listeria in a Dole brand garden salad as part of a routine sampling program of food at grocery stores. WGS later showed that the Listeria in the garden salad was the outbreak strain.
